Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Toronto Branch Knockout scheduled for January 6th has been moved to St. Andrew’s College located at 15800 Yonge Street in Aurora. The event will be held at the Petrachek McGillivray Pipes & Drums Centre which is located on the following map: https://tinyurl.com/ya3bx9hl. There will be plenty of parking near the football field (visible in the Google map), and there are signs on campus that point towards the building.
The branch apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario will be holding its annual judge’s seminar on Saturday April 2nd, 2016 in Milton, ON.
This year, the focus of the seminar will be on pipe band adjudication. Throughout the seminar, participants will be provided an opportunity to formalize the process that they use to evaluate a pipe band contest, and discuss and engage with other adjudicators as to the process that they use – first as a piping or drumming judge and then from an ensemble perspective. We hope that all of our adjudicators will take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the discussion and evaluation of performances from an ensemble perspective, even if they’re not ensemble certified adjudicators. This session is open to all of those who are ensemble certified, thinking about a future ensemble certification, or simply interested in developing a better understanding of evaluating performances from an ensemble perspective.

PPBSO Music Committee members have heard concerns from Grade 4 bands regarding the selection of appropriate music for the Mini-MSR which they will play for the first time this season. As a result the committee has arranged a teleconference call for Grade 4 band leaders. Committee members, joined by Ed Neigh, will be available to answer questions regarding music choices and any other concerns that bands have regarding this event.
The call will be held Wed. Sept. 24 at 8:00 p.m. To participate bands should contact Sharon Duthart at the PPBSO office for details on how to join the conversation.
