Cambridge Highland Games Results – 2013 Monday July 22nd, 2013

The Ontario Highland Games circuit continued its string of great weather this past weekend as the Cambridge Highland games were held under sunny skies, and in front of a large crowd.  It was a great day for law-enforcement, as police-sponsored bands picked up the top prize in every grade, except for the premier grade, which was won by the 78th Fraser Highlanders.  The 78th now sit tied for 1st place with Peel Regional Police in pursuit of the Champions Supreme title for 2013.

Ottawa police continued their string of victories in Grade 2, receiving 1st place nominations across the board, with 400 Squadron putting in an impressive performance to claim 2nd place over the visitors from Great Lakes.  Grade 3 continued its highly competitive season, with Toronto Police claiming their first victory of the year, followed by recently promoted Durham Regional Police and Paris/Port Dover.   Hamilton extended their season-long unbeaten streak, which includes two victories in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with another dominating performance in Cambridge, beating out Glengarry in 2nd, and Grand Celtic in 3rd.  All eyes will be on Hamilton as they look to make it a clean sweep for the season with wins in Maxville and Fergus.  Chatham Kent Police also continued their dominating year, with a sold victory over hometown favourites Cambridge & District and Paris Port Dover.

Ian K. MacDonald was the professional piper of the day, while Zack Miller picked up the professional drumming honours.   In the amateur contests, It was Andrew Mackay (piping) and Matthew Hall (drumming) coming out on top.
